Why do people spell Cummins with a "ings" ?
as in "Cummings" ? is it from when Forrd owned them?

"ing" is just a common word ending. Also often the "g" is dropped such as "whole lot of nothin." People may just think the g is being dropped when they hear it said correctly. Probably for some, like myself, I've seen "Cummins" in print more than I've heard it in conversation. So getting it right isn't hard.
