russ' last Why? is a biggie for me. I have no answer other than lack of education in defensive driving. My biggest "Why?" is; why when I am in the lane next to the slow lane and a exit is a tenth of a mile ahead, does the fool ahead of me in my lane wanting to take the exit and seeing no room ahead to pull over and exit, hit the brakes and slow down a whole lane of vehicles by 30 or 40 MPH. Not so bad when I'm driving my 1996 beater F150, but when I'm driving the Winnie... One state we were in in the mid-west had lane change restrictions for cars next to the slow lane at each exit, no changes to adjacent lane for the last 100 or so yards. Sure seemed logical to me.

Everyone else is a terrible driver except for me!
Actually, I blame smart phones for about 99 percent of the issues on the roads today. Doesn't matter if it is "hands free", the phone is distracting you from paying attention to the road. Hands fee phones are actually worse, as people think it is perfectly safe to use them and so are just constantly involved in a phone conversation while being interrupted by things like brake lights and stop signs. And large intersections with multiple turning lanes? Forget it.
What the heck is so important that you can't put off the conversation until the next rest stop?
X2, so true, I no longer even look at my phone when I am driving, my wife most of the time needs to know who ic calling.
