Just got back from towing my TT and family out to Yellowstone. What a magnificent part of the country!!! The landscape and the people are just awesome!While driving to and from, I had my kids help count other trucks towing their TTs (no pups or truck campers and did not count while staying in CGs). I did not count the whole time, but this is simply from random times that included at least an hour of counting during each "session". The majority of the tally is from eastern WY, SD and MN. Here is my tally:Ford SD - 36Chevy HD - 34Ram HD - 31Other - 22Ford 150 - 14Chevy 1500 - 12Ram 1500 - 6Other things I noticed were a LOT of overloaded 3/4 ton trucks pulling 5ers, some even pulling triple axel rigs!! Some so overloaded their bumpers were darn near dragging!! Crazy that people can pull like that. I also noticed while in WY is that the majority of trucks for the cowboys and ranchers were Ford SDs and Ram HDs. Almost seems as though the GM trucks are for ranch bosses and were perhaps more for the high end users based on the drivers that I saw.

Hmm, bosses driving the GM trucks. They must be on to something ?? I have been noticing a lot of GM 2500 work trucks here in Chicago area with tried and true 6.0 gasser. Hear that this truck seems to be work horse that has very low maintenance cost.

Im assuming the chevy count included GMC ? Or do they go into the other count?? thus tipping favor to GM trucks ??

Harbor Freight sells more wrenches than Craftsman. What do these kind of observations prove?

He offered his observations, not proof of anything. It's interesting to see the spread. It shows more of a balance than some truck owners would think or claim without this data - it's so random, it's probably fairly accurate across the board.

Where you might see a one/brand difference, is in a rural or ranching/farming area with only one local truck dealer.

Chevy trucks included GMCs, I should've labeled it as GM trucks.

This "proves" nothing, it's an observation. I was curious to see what's truly out there, not just what an Internet forum says is out there. And this observation doesn't single out hotshotters or anything specific, it's a broad sampling.

My friend in SD owns a ranch and runs a cow calf operation and also owns a Dodge Diesel Ram and told me and I quote.....it's a piece of #@^$ but it's cheaper than a new Ford. Of course it is a work truck and it gets worked hard !

I always see more newer Ford diesel pickups on the road by far more than any other.....They must be doing something right.

That is a pretty broad socio/political statement based on such a small sampling. Bias maybe?
