That so many towable RV's seem to have problems with tires, wheel bearings, and wheel studs? I mean this basic technology has been around since the first automobiles, and you rarely hear of cars loosing a wheel due to broken studs. Major tire failures, or wheel bearing failures. So why is it trailers have so many reported problems?
Trucks tires/wheels/suspension vs a trailers tires/wheels/suspension is apples vs pickles.
I would add to some very good points and other points ..... not so good.
Our tow vehicles tires/wheels/suspension can be 170" plus distance apart and close to the corners of the vehicle with the front set steering into the corner and the rear simply rolling/following around a corner. Trucks carry people and are over engineered for the weight they carry vs a rv trailer.
Our trailers tires/wheels/suspension on a multi axle trailer are next to each other towards the center of the long heavy vehicle that actually slides sideways (side scrubbing ) while going around corners. This action adds much more side loads to a trailers suspension parts and the main frame rails.
Now add sitting for 6-7 months/full load all the time/poor quality tires/wheels and poorly engineered frames and suspension parts so yeah the RV trailer will always have more issues just as any type of trailer.
