Why not run portable generator off vehicle's fuel tank?
I'm sure that there is a good reason why this is not done---using your car or truck's gas tank to run a portable gasoline generator---but I've never known why not? Please clue me in, thanks.

You do not want to tap into the TV fuel system mainly because its a high pressure system. As an example GM pickups run anywhere between 45 and 70 psi depending on year etc. That amount of pressure will pump out fuel in a hurry not to mention the system is designed to recirculate fuel. Altering the system is a good way to give yourself some expensive grief and maybe end up in a burn center while doing it.
