Why not run portable generator off vehicle's fuel tank?
I'm sure that there is a good reason why this is not done---using your car or truck's gas tank to run a portable gasoline generator---but I've never known why not? Please clue me in, thanks.

Most vehicle tanks are a sealed system. How would you allow air in to replace the fuel you burned? You could collapse the tank in if you didn't allow air back in. I'm sure it could be done but I think you'd be asking for problems.
