Why not run portable generator off vehicle's fuel tank?
I'm sure that there is a good reason why this is not done---using your car or truck's gas tank to run a portable gasoline generator---but I've never known why not? Please clue me in, thanks.

Around here ethanol mix, is all you can buy, unless you go buy racing fuel
I use to much gas to buy racing fuel
Ethanol is not much problem when your using it every day
It's when you let it set for long periods of time than it clogs things up
Yes mfg use separate fuel pickup for the generator
But i for one, would not be willing to pull the Gas tank out of my truck
to install a new pickup even if i could find a dual pickup to install
The op wanted to know why this wasn't being done
I think it's been fully explained .. why it's not being done, why nobody has done this
If he doesn't want to carry gas cans, if he wants long periods of extended run time
I suggest he research auxilary bed mounted fuel tanks
