Bypass and winterize may refer to the water heater (at least one of them). To suck the antifreeze from the jug, you need to have the connection from the pump suction to the water tank shut (and, of course, the connection from it to the jug open).
If you don't have a tap somewhere open when you're trying to get the antifreeze from the jug it also is unlikely to work.
If you have access to an air compressor, you may want to consider blowing the water out of the lines rather than displacing it with antifreeze, particularly if you can't get the suction from the jug to work.
