I would like to tap in a wireless switch for my tongue jack, so I can level the unit from anywhere!Any ideas on where to get one? Or, if you could suggest ways to make one up, I'm all for it.thanksmikey

Sorry, I don't need a jack, I have an elec jack, I want a wireless switch I can hold in my hand to raise and lower the jack remotely.

You'll need an RF based wireless receiver and switch to replace the manual switch on the jack and a compatible RF remote to operate it. Never done business with RFcontrol systems but they carry a lot of devices so may be a good knowledge base.

I doubt that you will find a add on mod for wireless remote for your existing jack and thus made a suggestion about a jack that comes with wireless remote. Perhaps you can order parts from that jack that does what you need.Your post really didn't indicate that you wanted to fabricate your own, sorry for not knowing that. The switch for up and down on electric jack in not just a simple on/off (as you know) so I would expect you would need not only the electronics to send and receive the signals, but relays (to handle the current) and diodes to create the result you want.

That RF control had 5A limit. My electric jack has 30A fuse, not sure what it draws when running steady.

If you're handy with electrical I bet you could adapt this remote winch control from Harbor Freight.

"FSAD"......I like your idea. You may have a marketable item. My kids both have trailer with an electric tongue jack. I could picture and assembly with both a manual and remote switch in case of failure.

"DougE".....I think I'll stop by Harbor Freight and grab one. It should be easy to plug into the kid's jacks.

Looks like it might work, looks huge too!

Shouldn't be too hard to wire up, wonder what the amp rating is? Probably high, since its for winches.

The HF winch control is just control voltage. You would need to add a pair of contactors to handle the load of the jack motor.

I was looking at my supply wires for the jack, they cant be TOO heavy duty, they are about 14 gage looking. and that's what came with it! it is a pretty large gear reduction in there (noticing the last time I greased the gears), so perhaps amp draw isn't much.

I'll email Buyers products (the jack mfg) and see....

that Alta control looks really overkill...

The Alta remote system linked to by 96Bounder is exactly what you need. It has the wireless function, momentary switching, and can handle the amp load of the jack.
