:) Hi, I spent my whole life in Southern California and then we moved to Oregon. I pumped my own gas a few times and didn't get into trouble. One time I was next to a guy from Arizona and he told me that he got his @$$ chewed for pumping his own gas in Oregon.
At the Indian Casinos, in Oregon, you can pump your own gas legally. Or they will do it for you.
At a gas station in Weed, California I was in line for the next gas pump. I was traveling and had my trailer connected to my truck. I got out of my truck while waiting for the person in front of me to finish. OK, never in my 70+ years of my life did I see someone remove the gas nozzle from his pick-up truck with the gas flowing full blast. He dropped the nozzle and touched something on the pump and the gas shut off. My wife and I then noticed that his truck had Oregon plates on it. I guess that he never pumped his own gas before. :E
