Hmm---Interesting. We spent 3 weeks along the shore. Light rain every day no surprise, and I never saw it raining sideways. And while I was in the Navy I spent 4 months in Bremerton, WA. Where it rained for 143 days straight. And never once sideways. Maybe during winter storms with strong winds since I did not see any of those. Rare indeed tho.
depends on where you are. the east side of portland very often has 30=50mph winds and rain or sleet. miserable
down on the coast even worse with rain an often real windy.
west side of portland, wind is pretty unusual.
