For me, soldering as well as crimping is just insurance. Not really convinced that my 8-ton crimps using the 70 dies for 1/0 cable actually weld things together.
Just drilled out the inverter terminals to accommodate some 3/8" bolts.
My 1/0 lugs have 3/8" holes.
Are electrical bolts unusual? All I can get locally are nickel plated steel and stainless steel (I think). No copper bolts that I know of.
But on the battery side the studs are smaller than 3/8" and I can't change them. Maybe wrap with a bit of bare copper wire to fill up the 3/8" lug hole?
Am quite happy now that I've managed to fish a wire from the inverter location in the side of pass thru, through the fibreglass front cap, and out to the battery bank. Hopefully the 1/0 cables will pull through easily.
