40 will kill the Yamaha dead.
SG the rhetoric is to add a bit of humor. A voltmeter and a tiny screwdriver is standard operating procedure by Dalia by 12-year old granddaughter. Setting voltage a single time should not be taxing to an average adult. I purposely left out instructions so if any of the hundreds of people OTHER than the OP are interested I can go images on email. I wasn't joking about the time difference. Jesus' uncle told him the 55 dollar Megawatt couldn't POSSIBLY be as good as the hundred thirty nine dollar Dyson . Four hours later Jesus unplugged the B&D and finished charging (40 minutes) his LTH group 31 cyclable. Wanna know his quote? "I haven't got time for this". He pops the cell caps off and wanders over every half hour and sees if the cells are bubbling. He is no longer getting a year's use out of the LTH. But is on his third year. The battery is for his 24' panga with 60 HP Yamaha. He night dives and has LED lighting onboard lit always for his dive compressor.
Now he is on generator power after the hurricane. The LTH is fully charged. But the little generator can only support the six foot wide freezer load.
BFL13, thank you sir for alerting me to the ramped start-up charging of the B&D. I wasted over four hundred dollars on B&D chargers 2004 - 2007. They blew out the finals and being embedded with wave soldering were not fixable. And they did not charge worth snot. They ended up turning off at the 1.245 - 1.260 level. By today's standards paying almost four hundred dollars when a single hundred twenty dollar battery would work fine throughout the span of time, is absurd and an insult to my intelligence. My battery duties are not overnight wonders -- they get cycled and I mean cycled hard. I am in the middle of doing a capacity test of a seven year old Lifeline. Oooooo lookie, so far it is showing 100.0% capacity retention. Think its a fluke? I 2.666 vdc equalized the Rolls weak sister over the weekend and suddenly it isn't a weak sister. It equalized for 22 hours. Not bad for a battery that was installed when Monica Lewinski was in the headlines.
But I admit - some people have A LOT more money for early battery failures than I do.
Yes I am fussy about how things work. I do not like nine hundred dollar automatic dishwashers that need to have the plates removed and scrubbed after wasting a dollar's worth of electricity, either.
