- Hundo24ExplorerI'm ok with doing that, although I did empty the tank, run Seafoam through it. Ran great for 2 tank fulls, (2gal). Like I mentioned early, this seems to be a common issue, especially in California with **** fuel. Will see how it feel about this on Monday.
Thanks - FishermanExplorerDo yourself a favour, drain the tank and carb, get a can of Seafoam. Pour about 2 ounces into the tank and open the petcock(on/off switch) and let it sit for a couple days without starting it. Drain the carb again then add some fresh gas. Seafoam will "eat" its way through the carb, dissolve the crud and open up all the little passages. It might smoke a bit on start up, but that will be normal.
- Hundo24ExplorerI pulled the plug again and it's actually running lean, makes sense with stumbling. I cleaned the "muffler" out. Opened the screw drained the fuel out. Took air cleaner off, put some Seafoam in carb. Fired it up, still rough. I moved the on/off gas cap switch as I've read that it opens more half closed, didn't work. Only thing that smoothed it out is half choke. I've probably read 500 threads on this issue and only one other guy had that issue with half choke. He even took it to the dealer and they couldn't figure it out? It's cool in livermore this weekend so we don't need the ac and we have enough propane to run the fridge. Wife needs it on for coffee. I've read where guys do all this stuff, modifying, using jet fuel ! And draining after every weekend out?? This isn't an old Coleman here, it's a $1000 Honda. I'll take the inline filter off (find YouTube how to get to it). If it's clear, I'm not taking the carb off. If this was a year old or I didn't maintain it, I'd understand, It's not. If this doesn't work I'll be returning both.

I like how the Yamahas have a fuel petcock, which means that you can run the carb bowl dry for storage.
The Honda's have an electrical connection beside the shut-off switch that, when disconnected, only shuts off the fuel allowing it to run the carb and lines dry. - FishermanExplorerHondas do have a carb drain screw and the attached hose drain out to the bottom on one side.
- Hundo24ExplorerI had just purchased a new Honda 2000, ran great the first 8 hrs. Fired it up a week later, started running a little rough, (I'm in California by the way, ethanol in fuel). About 3:00 am the generator shut off!! In the morning I drained the tank, put Seafoam in, sputtered a while still but next day it was fine. Came home and ordered a 2nd to go with it so we can run everything's at once in RV. Figured rare issue. After googling it, there's lots of problems, even with new. I'm thinking it's the chit fuel in calif.
Anyway, yesterday we setup for the livermore rodeo and the bastard shut off!! Emailed Amazon and I'm sending it back, along with the one in the box I just received yesterday. I haven't read as many issues on fuel with the yamahas, just the neglect of letting has sit in it forever. The seller that uses Amazon said, start the return process. I was going to just exchange for the convienence but either way I'll have to drain oil and fuel.
Don - wa8yxmExplorer IIIWhat I know of Yahama's comes from a sales rep. but, it's enough to convince me I want a 1200.. (Just enough to charge batteries with my PDI 9180+Wizard)

Honda cons:
- aluminum cylinder bore
No, the Honda EU2000i has a cast-iron cylinder. The block is aluminum. You might be thinking of the EU1000i, which is indeed 100% all-aluminum.

Caveat: I work for Honda, but the preceding is my opinion alone.
