TomG2,
Yep .... we followed our own RV buying philosophy when we bought 11 years ago.
Considering all the money that we had to spend plus that we were occasional rockhounds, we wanted the maximum camp "(almost) anywhere anytime any altitude" value we could get. We found a 24 foot Class C with such things as : Only average wall and floor insulation but with 3" ceiling insulation, interior curtains at both ends of the coach to create a really small "cool box" in the center coach area if ever needed for scorching heat or numbing cold, fully ducted 13.5K BTU air conditioner and fully ducted furnace (both with a wall digital control), heated tanks, large propane and F/G/B water tank capacities, dual large batteries, and with both 30 amp hookup service and 4000 watt built-in generator capacity that can run everything all at the same time.
The hot weather capabilities of our rig served as very well once when we toured the Southern U.S in July and August. Regarding RV size, we do not party inside our small RV but can sleep six in a pinch, and feed up to six seated at meal time. We are not full timers but have spent up to 10 weeks in our RV and could have continued on if hadn't had to get home. Of course the RV's interior is not anywhere near as large or luxurious as our stick house nor need it be - in our opinion that's not it's purpose.
