101 degree heat & 30 amp air-conditioning

WOW! Does the Marco Pasa incorporate a De-Fib function, like your Power Supply? I'd really like to know you had a start pack on board in addition to an ignition module.

If you don't ascribe to the notion that solar panels shade the roof, crawl up there on the fourth of July and stick your tongue on the panel.

Nice note on the auto protection on the roof vent lid. Going to fasten one on a Mexican stick & brick roof. Oops, I mean cement & mud roof.

PS: I'm permanently fixed according to the witch doctors. "Marco Pasa" Pacemaker en espanol. I couldn't be satisfied with a normal model, oh nooooooo...multiple anodes, 2 hours of general anesthesia and 3 more days goosing the nurses after that. Definition HOSPITAL: Where the general theory is to wake the patient every half hour for endless blood pressure, blood draws, EKG's, and "If it comes to it how do you wish to be disposed of?" No sleep means faster recovery they guarantee it. Grobble, snap, grumble...

My vent cover works great!

Raising the solar panels also allows clearance for the Fantastic roof vent. The vent is designed to stop opening when it contacts something like a tree limb and in this case a solar panel while the fan continues to run. A rubber pad is attached to the vent at the contact point with a piece of VHB tape.

Do you folks who put foam in your vents have vent covers up on the roof over the crank-up vent lids?

We do, and the effect is to put a layer of insulating air between the vent cover and the crank-up vent lid. Our crank-up vent lids don't feel hot at all because of this air space above each crank-up vent lid. The vent covers up above the lids directly absorb all of the sun's heat, but the crank-up vent lids themselves stay at about the temperature of the RV's interior air. We feel no extreme heat coming from the vent areas when camped in the direct sun, so no need to put foam in the vent ... plus the foam darkens the interior.

Of course there are other advantages to having vent covers ... and we know due to some bad experiences before I installed the covers.

I cut some 3" think foam and wedge it in the shower skylight, and bath vent, and it made a huge difference.

If we are in the sun and it is 95+, I'll set the temp to 65, and use a blanket, and that really helps to keep the temps down during the afternoons.

We put that silver shine stuff similar to the window shade you put in your car. Can get it at Home Depot, Lowes, ect. It keeps it cooler when the sun shines on it and warmer in the winter time

Where I spend the hottest two months of the year, I put up a carport. Saving $100/month with it. ($100 instead of $200)

Nope! That is the nature of the beast. That's normal for temps above 80 degrees.

Your RV is nothing more than a box sitting in the hot sun. Extreme heat calls for 'pro-active measures' if you want to be comfortable.

1. Close all shades
I also put van windshield shades under the day/night shades on the side the sun is coming in.

2. Cover windshield if you have a MH

3. If Class C also cover opening from cab to coach

4. If you have a choice, park with nose to east or west so you don't get the broad side affect of the sun coming up and down thru big side windows.

5. Put awning to the 'lowest' position it will go to block the sun.

6. I have a skylight and boy does the heat come in from that!! I put removable limo tint over the skylight.

7. And, IMHO, 'THE' most important' is buy vent pillows for all your vents. THIS is the one step that makes the most difference how cool you can get your RV. This alone will drop the temps inside. By the ones with one side silver one side white material, not the rubber ones.



One summer in my MH in Florida got me edgecated real quick on how to survive in a RV. Sucks but you gotta do what you gotta do to stay cool! :B:W

Hmmm. 30' TT here with a single 13.5K AC 30A unit. Recently in Moab, set up in shade, but where daytime temp high was 108. I am able to keep the inside at 74 degrees.

Granted, I have completely resealed the inside on my trailer's AC unit with aluminum ducting tape and it made a very big difference in the ability for my trailer to keep cool. Prior to doing the reseal, it was very hard to keep the trailer under 86 degrees when it was 90-95 out.

OP, do yourself a favor and watch these short videos that gives an explanation why a lot of RV AC units do not cool very well. I really thought I was in need of a new AC unit but started doing some research and found multiple videos showing RV AC units are poorly sealed where gaps only continue to get worse over the years. A little time and a very inexpensive roll of aluminum duct tape can help a lot.
