I did the same on this end but have two extension cords with one running to the home entertainment area and the other going back to the cabinet top next to the bed area. My POwer Inverter is Pure Sine Wave 600WATT model...
I used this type of multi tap extension cord that has an ON-OFF stich on it...
I wished I had used one of these that had more tap points and able to plug in some transformers etc...
