110v vs 220v AC plug

Not real sure how well the inlet circuit is protected? The specs are here :

The unit is PFC and rated at a max input current of about 5a (specs only given for 230v but I emailed them to confirm).

The 14ga cord I ordered is rated at 15a, same as 14/2 wire in a house. I always use a surge protector with my chargers; well actually, with any gennie/shore power, for that matter.

The ps is switched both for power on and function on, so ???

I am curious about what gauge cord will come with the turnigy 1080w 60 amper I'm buying. It's rated at 12a ac, but that'll be a conservative rating, and is also based on 18v output; well above what i'll be running it at for boost/abs.

If the PS isn't circuit protected on the inlet, I would use a fused and switched power entry module/ If it is circuit protected for the AC power in, I would use a standard IEC AC connector and a separate switch. IEC cords are readily available in 12 ga to handle the amperage involved.

I realized changing the plug end was not a good idea, and ordered a 14 awg cord, instead. The china 230v is pretty light gauge; 18 at best; barely enough to even handle the lower current of 230v.

I found a similar light gauge cord amongst my stash, and at 4a / 120v draw, it heats up bad. I'm keeping a close eye on it while I use it in the 2.5a / 120v range, for low amp top and EQ charging.

Yes.

There was some uncertainty on my part initially, as some adds said it was switchable, while others didn't. And I couldn't find anything on their website to confirm it, so I emailed them to be sure. There's a few on ebay with pictures.

I paid $85 plus $30 shipping, thru ali express. But I've since seen another one on there for $110 with free shipping, so $5 cheaper.

probably not... its much smaller than your standard 120v 30a dryer plug.

It's a 10a 240v plug used in china, australia, etc.
