12 volt issue on 2011 Challenger 32 vs

Odd problem just popped up, shut down the generator for the night and a minute later the rv went dark. Clicking noise came from engine compartment where wires come together, some type of transfer ? Not sure what to call it. Start engine up, minute later lights back on, 12 v system working again. Shut off engine, lose 12 v system again, did it several times. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Just found an outlet so we are lucky to plug in for the night.
  • Hmmm, Sounds handy if an individual wants someone else to do the work that point could be established to save an entire column of pseudo replies. Just a thought.
  • Follow up, thanks for suggestions.

It was a combination of a corroded ground and battery cable connections that needed cleaning. I also needed a 7 pin trailer wire installed, called local rv repair places, all scheduling about 2 months out for appointment. One service guy gave me the name of someone who does work out of his house. The guy had me bring it right over, was done the next day, did an outstanding job, put new connectors on cables, put a bracket next to receiver with 4 and 7 pin covered connections, replacing the 4 pin that comes zip tied to receiver and flops around (nice factory job) I lucked out, found a great guy who knows how to work on rv' s and completes the job quickly, unlike my local C World

I've been looking online at some suggestions, one is to check the inline fuse or fuses coming from the batteries. Would anyone know where these might be located?

On my unit the solenoid mounted behind the battery has two fuses, one 5 amp and one 7.5 amp. I just had a similar problem and found the 7.5 fuze blown.

  • Transfer switch is for the 120 VAC system. Would have no affect on the 12V side. More likely the battery disconnect relay and perhaps a converter/battery issue.
