Great to hear you had success with the solar panels. When I see your posts I always thought you and solar would pair up nicely.
No need to unhook at night. I doubt it would hurt anything but I'd leave them hooked up if they were deployed. May be able to sneak a bit more charge into the batteries.
Aiming them is more important earlier in the charge when the batteries are drawing the full capacity of the panels. Later in the charge when battery draw is down, it may not matter so much the panels are aimed precisely.
I use Windex on mine. But I haven't wiped them daily. In fact some times they're pretty darn dirty but they're adequate for the usage at the time. You'll get a hang of that, when your really need every watt and when it's not all that important. I certainly make sure they start off a trip nice and clean.
Personally even if I relocated the controller I'd want to keep wire size up at a 30 ft run. Look for the fine stranded wire which is easier to handle. If you can find flexible fine stranded 8 gauge and stand to use it that would be great. I don't think you'd have trouble handling fine stranded 10 gauge at all.
