Make sure your current Ceiling Plenum matches the new air conditioner.
The new air conditioner will not come with the Ceiling Plenum. You will either need to use the old one in your camper or purchase a new one. If the old one does not match, you'll need to buy one that will.
The Plenum is the vent cover on your ceiling. Some are vented, some are ducted, some have controls built right on them, and others are designed for use with a thermostat.
The plugs on these have to match the plug on the air conditioner too, especially if the controls are built on the Plenum and don't use a wall thermostat.
We swapped out our 13,500 for a 15,000. I let the dealer do it all, so make sure it was right. We were really hoping to use the original as a second air conditioner in the bed room as there was already a vent there. When he pointed out we'd need to purchase another Plenum, (and the trailer simply was not wired for that), that's when we decided to just go with the bigger air conditioner.... which works very well by the way!
I insisted I get the old air conditioner back. There was nothing wrong with it. We even advertised it on Craigs list, very cheap. The only people interested wanted to know if the original Plenum can with it. When I said "no" it stayed in the trailer, I never heard from them again. To this day, that air conditioner is still sitting in our utility shed at home. Hope I never have to retrieve it, and thought about hooking it up inside my shed to help cool it. Meanwhile, it sits. No Plenum, no sale!
