I am wondering if anyone has actual, personal experience running their 15k BTU AC unit on parallel Honda 2000's.My Yamaha 2400 would take care of the 13.5 unit. But the 15k is too much for it. I really wish Yamaha made it parallel capable. I am leaning towards the dual Honda's, but am hoping to not make a mistake.I like the idea of parallel units because if I don't need AC I can run one smaller unit and they are easier to move around.I have a friend that has dual Champions and they really don't like the 15k AC unit. I have heard the Hondas have a better motor starting ability.I live at 4500 feet and may be camping higher or lower......

But the 15k is too much for it.Instead of replacing your one 2400 watt Yamaha with two Honda 2K gensets, which will certainly be a costly venture, just equip your A/C with a Micro-Air Easy Start soft starter kit that should allow your 2.4K handle the load.

That looks like an interesting idea. However it's not just the start up. I did get it started once or twice. But, there was no additional running amps left over for anything. If I even turned on my LED lights the generator would bog down. That device looks like it would be good if two 2000's were having trouble starting it.

13.5 Duotherm Brisk air, not 15. Stock, no capacitor mods. Sorry, but...While running that with my 2 2ks, I can ALSO run my microwave for a short time. They're really screaming, but handling it. Those little guys have some pretty amazing surge to be able to do that.

My Honda's have run my 15K Dometic @ 9000'.If I turned the Tstat all the way down so it would never cycle the compressor, I could run them at idle after the intial startup.

I assume you mean 12V LED's? If they cause your generator to bog, try turning off the converter. That alone takes a bunch of power and may be most of the issue.

True. But the point is if I want to run the AC I couldn't do anything else at all while enjoying the cool air. No TV, battery charging, limited lighting.

The charger takes a ton of power. So why not just buy another battery or 2 and run on batteries for your 12V needs when you need AC? The TV, fridge, lighting and other things will be fine without the charger for quite some time. Of course if you need AC well into the night or for days on end that may not work so wel..

Honda has done a good job of getting rid of the irritating sound, not just passing the db test. That's what you're paying for.
Now if they could just get rid of that irritatingly excessive drain on your wallet.

I purchased two Honda Handi 3000i last year, spendy but I'm only doing this once, pairing them with a companion tank works well, in ten days with using our 15k ac, we used 15 to 20 gallons of fuel running 24/7, only stopped for oil changes.

The numbers don't add up. Using them to power your AC continuously you only used 15 to 20 gallons in 10 days. You realize that means you only used 1 1/2 to 2 gallons PER DAY. I can't buy that. I've had some great generators but nothing near that efficient.

Honda's website says even at 1/4 load that 1.6 gallons last 7.7 hours. So even at quarter load that's about 5 gallons per 24 hours for one generator.
