1976 Starcraft PopUP - propane regulator and hose replacement

after 50 years, it is finally time to replace the propane regulator and line connecting my single tank to the metal gas line running to the inside 3 burner stove.  This is the only use for the onboard propane (there is no hot water heater, furnace, or propane fridge on this 1976 Starcraft Galazy 8).

I'm a bit confused about the size, pressure, etc.  Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Greg

  • Regulators are sized by BTU's used. If you only have a small stove on it you do not need much. One of the smallest I have seen is a 30,000 BTU one. Your stove is probably around 18,000 with all three running. Places like Menards, Lowes, Home Depot and Walmart all should have what you need. Pressure is the same on all the tanks. Real easy to do.

  • take the supply line to your local Home Depot. Go to the barbecue aisle and match the fitting size up with a new one. Yes the new line will have a the new big connector on it. But its beyond time you upgraded that end of the hose as well.

  • Can you take the old regulator off and take it to an RV dealer or plumbing/lp supply shop? They should have the replacement part with the appropriate size and fitting what line size you need. All you'd really need to now is the length of the line. Or have a plumber come out and just do the work for you.
