Hello everyone, I am new to this site and need some help. I recently bought a 1986 holiday rambler to take my family on some adventures. I honestly have very little knowledge of the unit. The motorhome has some issues that i am trying to work through. Can someone tell me what the key switch does on the floor next to the driver seat? The generator does not seem to be getting any gas,can anyone tell me where it comes and goes? Thank you

Not sure about the key switch but the gen will not get gas if the tank is below 1/4 full.

A picture of the switch might help. As to the generator, on my HR the generator fuel hose is t'd off of the mechanical fuel pump gas return hose.Miles

Thank you for your responses, I will try to get a picture of the key switch. It's a strange looking key behind the drivers seat on the floor. The gas tank is 3/4 full so I guess I'm going to have to wait until to snow melts to check into it. Thank you again

I previously had a 1989 HR Imperial Class C, but I don't recall any key switch near the driver's seat on the floor. That must have been something the former owner installed.As for the floor switch, I suspect it is a high beam headlight switch. I can't remember when manufacturers switched to a relay controlled by a switch on the turning signal stalk.

I still have no idea what the switch does , I have not takin it out to see yet! I have been working on the generator.

The key switch is still a mystery. I have not had a chance to take it out and see what it does. I'm working on the generator at this point!

No help here but a compliment...

I really like that model. Go online and find a Wholeale RV parts supply and accessories distributor. Call them and ask about salvage yards. Place an ad in Ctaigs List. Use caution whwn dealing with strangers.

Hi everyone can someone share with me the best places to get parts for my 1986 holiday rambler imperial motorhome 34ft ? I want to try and keep it original ! I'm wondering if anyone else has the same unit and would be willing to talk about issues and upgrades or even just fixes.

All the storage bays are keyed. My next step is to take the switch out and see what's going on. I definitely appreciate everyone's help!

Do your external storage bays have individual key locks on them? If not, does this key switch possibly lock and unlock the storage bays, similar to how they work on Greyhound busses?

Turn on some lights in the coach and turn the switch to see if they go out. Same thing for the dash.
Could it be for emergency start?

Honestly I guess it could be a 12 V disconnect, I just can't seem to make the switch due anything in either direction. I thought originally that when you turn the key switch it would shut the battery off from the house and if you went to the other direction it would shut the truck battery off. Thinking that you could use the truck battery if the house batteries died. Thanks everyone
