This was true in 2011 when our cable broke (1992 P30 chassis with the same set up). I used Google and found a shop in MI that rebuilt my old one by putting new cable into the old housing and putting new ends on it. Look for a shop that makes custom cables. It was not that expensive in our case but forget the details.
I think you are correct that you do not have AutoPark as we do not. Our chassis is rated at 14.8K and has the parking pawl in the transmission. The pawl was replaced with the could be troublesome AutoPark in chassis rated >15K pounds.
Our 32' MH chassis left GM with 190" wheel base but the builder professionally took it to 208" WB and it handles like a dream.
Have you purchased a used GM shop manual for the MH chassis that will have a P37 in the VIN? They are cheap on ebay because of no demand. I think our GM shop manual was like $25. We do much of our own work are often have to train the shop doing the work as they often do not have books/CD's going back that far.
