Your rig is probably on a 1991 Chassis OBD II did not come out until 1993 at the earliest IIRC

best advice i can offer
look up your chevy 454 P30 chassis
or Ford 460 f53 chassis ?
by the year and chassis
get the manual and go from there

After the engine runs for a minute or so, it starts to sputter like it is starving for fuel. I thought that possibly the fuel pump was going bad, but a fuel pressure gauge shows that the fuel pressure is steady around 40 psi. Checked that the air flow was unobstructed, and it is getting air just fine. A spark tester shows a strong spark, right up until the check engine light comes on, then the spark weakens, the engine sputters, then dies.

I have searched for the diagnostic plug to try to determine why the light is coming on, but have been unable to locate it. I know if is the older style that will require jumpering and reading the flashing light, but I just can't seem to find it.

It is a Ford 460 engine.

Or later... I was just working on a '96 F150 and it did not have OBDII.

Symptoms stated may indicate a failing ignition coil. It is an inexpensive part to just replace.

Larry probably has an OBD1 port, not OBD2. OBD1 came about in 1991 as part of California's emission control effort. The fact he is experiencing a "Check Engine" light would indicate his vehicle was manufactured with OBD1. Vehicles without OBD do not have "Check Engine" lights.

Thanks for the help. I still haven't been able to locate the port, but I am continuing to look. I will see about replacing the ignition coil, and see if that helps. This thing has been driving me nuts.
