If the brake fluid is low then there is nothing wrong with adding some, however the "brake" light has to do with the computer for the ABS system not fluid.
Good luck / Skip
Possibly, but MOST Dash Brake lights have to do with the Fluid level and the CORRECT proportion/balance of fluid between the front and rear brakes AND the Emergency brake switch.
1. IF it has a Ford chassis, the odds are the foot emergency brake switch is bad. Regardless the emergency brake switch will activate this light on any model chassis, Ford's are more prone to have a switch failure
2. The system has a proportioning valve between the front and rear brake systems. IF either system loses fluid, ANYTHING that causes a fluid imbalance between the 2, the valve moves and causes the dash brake light to come ON. LOW fluid if too low will cause that.
3. Any computer for a ABS system usually has a separate ABS failure light. They do not use the regular "Brake" light switch for this. A 1993 model probably does NOT have any ABS type system. Doug
