  • If the original CRT TV was in a cabinet, you could install a vertical wood brace from the bottom of the cabinet to the top. An articulating mount can be used for the new screen to allow the screen to be pulled out for viewing.

If the original CRT TV was on a shelf, the new screen can be placed with it's included desk stand onto the same shelf and straps can be used to secure it for travel or it can be removed to be placed on a mattress.

I have a 32" screen on an articulating mount. The mounting bracket is fastened to a 5/8" plywood strip (about 6" H) that spans three studs. The plywood is glued and screwed into the studs. The articulating mount is strong enough so that I don't make any extra efforts to secure the screen. If I was traveling to Alaska, I would install a strap to secure the screen.
  • Cover the TV with a pillow case, part of a sheet, or whatever fits. Won't prevent damage to the screen should it hit something, but it can help prevent scratches and mars from straps ;)
  • Many people simply take a nice piece of 1/2" plywood that is roughly the size of the tv and attach it to the wall. That way you will certainly hit at least a couple of studs with screws. Then attach the TV bracket to the plywood. Should provide plenty of support. Our TV uses a long strap of Velcro that is actually attached behind the wall bracket and wraps around the TV when traveling. Just push to TV against the wall and fasten the Velcro...seems to hold just fine.

Flat screen TVs have standardized mounting provisions. Get a TV mount that looks sturdy and attaches in a reasonable way to where you want to put it, and you're most of the way there. There's nothing particularly special or magical about attaching a TV to an RV; you just need some setup that can take the vibration.

Depending on what you're mounting to, it may be wise to put in some reinforcements or spreader plates on the RV side of things. A bit of 1/4" plywood or similar is often plenty.
  • Post pictures. Lots of us have done it a lot of different ways. Hard to give advise without any idea about what you have. But Velcro straps are one option.
  • How did you mount the new TV? Or is it not yet mounted?
