1st time RV owner need help

Our trailer has movable sitting and places to watch TV ( from kitchen table in the morning or sofa at night, EG) so anyplace the TV is nailed down will be wrong for somebody watching each time.

We have the TV loose and can put it anywhere so it can be seen by everyone no matter what. All you need is long enough coax to the Winegard and an extension cord to the 120v.

When going down the road the TV lies on the bed (same as another poster above does) While camping, unless watching it, we can stash it (32" ) behind the (loose) sofa-bed. We can haul it out and sit it on a chair to watch it with DVD movies or TV broadcast facing any which way that works.

Our 32" flat screen is mounted on a VideoSecu articulating mount, about $25 on Amazon. I attached one end of a small bungee to an existing screw (window frame in my case) and the other end hooks into a hole in the rear center of the mount. It stays put, well. Probably helps that the TV is somewhat parallel to the direction of travel, so Start/Stop don't put all that much pressure on it. The trick is to keep it from starting to move.

Should add... Didn't trust the walls to hold the base of the mount. I was able to drill through the end of a cabinet that was made of particle board, and fasten with two 1/4" bolts with heads on the bracket and nuts inside. WasThis Mount

On our first 5er the CRT tv was in a dedicated cabinet. I removed that TV and made a frame out of 1/2" plywood and fastened it to the corners of the cabinet. Attached a swinging arm to the frame I made so the TV would swing out of the cabinet if necessary. The swing arm had adjustable friction joints to minimize movement when traveling. Never had an issue in the several years we had that trailer

Yeah, pool noodles a great invention! Did you know that you can lay three or four noodles on the top of a pickup with shell and carry a 32' ladder? :B

BTW, I like your TV transport idea, that ought to work great.

Ours is pretty close to the walls but I cut 4 pieces of swim noodle an slit it down the sides and I just slip them on the sides of the TV when in transit..Just for added support with any bouncing there might be.I use those darn things for alot of stuff.

We always just laid the TV on the bed. Of course it was easy to disconnect and move.

Not sure if this would work in your case, but my tv is on a moveable arm and lifts out of the support to allow it to be mounted outdoors. I just unhook two cables and take the tv out and lay it on the bed. Takes about 30 seconds.

My fifth wheel came with one of those typical furniture tie down straps screwed to the wall on each side. Simply fold the TV back against the wall and tighten the strap across the front of it. Worked for years.

However i also could not figure out if the OP has it mounted or is trying to mount it. :h

Our 32" flat screen is mounted on an articulating arm. I can bring it out and down so we're not forced to crane our necks to watch it. I use two luggage straps to hold it in and up while traveling.

I think what the poster is concerned about is the TV flopping around if he uses an articulated mount. tvformyrvdotcom is one of the companies that sells locking mounts that will secure the TV when traveling.
