2014 Avenger rks wiring issue

Hi there, My LP gas detector failed & was disconnected without the person paying attention to wired connection. They wanted to silence the alarm. I have a new detector to install, which I will do this one.
For this unit, they have the furnace wired through the detector.
The furnace wires are white & white\green stripe. There are two others identical to connect to the red & black on the detector.
Since some wiring colors are different on other trailers, need to know which ones to connect to each of the red & Black connecting wires on detector.
I know this sounds like a simple rewiring, but my rv dealer didn't even know why the connection was like this...

thanks

  • Per a Safe-T-Alert manual, page 3, yours may be a different brand.

    https://www.manualslib.com/manual/745711/Safe-T-Alert-70-742.html?page=3#manual

This shows red and black power the detector and white and white with a stripe control the gas solenoid on the furnace.
  • Perfect, thanks Doug. Yes, didn't make sense someone taking about wrong cooled wires.
    Thanks for your reply.
  • In 38 years as a RV Tech, I have NEVER seen wrong colored wire in an rv. For your RV---WHITE is negative(always is). The green/white stripe will be positive. Doug
  • No diagram with detector. I was thinking the white with the green stripe wire was to go to the black. Just wanted to be sure. Didn't want to cause any issue with my panel. I had seen a post some time ago about rv manafacturers mistakenly using wrong color of wire. But, not sure how they could do this. Probably should use a meter like suggested.

    Thanks for your reply.
  • Did you get a diagram with your new detector?
I suspect the red would be 12volts and the black ground.
You can identity those with a meter.
