I am very hesitant on recommending LEDs, back a 3 or 4 years ago I paid $20 per light bulb (120V versions), bought 4 of them and one by one they all died from only a few days to the longest at one month. Pretty much soured me on making any more LED purchases until these manufacturers get their act together.
About 2 years ago I bough a 3.5W Phillips capsule, put it in my kitchen under the cabinet and it has so far stood the test of time. We turn it one nightly in the evening instead of wasting a lot of energy with the ceiling lights for just a little light in the kitchen. The Phillips capsules have gained my trust a bit that there IS some manufacturers out there that have improved the life.
The downside was the Phillips capsule is mounted to a large ceramic body and is too big to fit in my puck lights :M
The Phillips capsule can be found at Home Depot but it is very expensive at $11 each and won't fit my smaller puck lights..
