LED replacement for T4 50 Watt Halogen

We have a GE Advantium oven in the coach. It has a 50 watt T4 halogen bulb in the over-the-counter light that will burn the heck out of you if you get anywhere near the light cover.

The largest watt T4 LED I can find to replace it is a 20 watt. Does anyone know if there is a 50 watt LED available?

What base does it have? Threaded? Pins? Bayonet?

Googling I see some with a G8 (pins) base on the inside of the Microwave, same one underneath?

    More googling....

    Random Advantium owners manual

Shows it having a 12 volt, 20 watt, bulb, "wb36x10176" on page 39....

Thanks for this tip. My manual is buried deep in a compartment in a box full of manuals. The bulb has two pins, similar to a T3 bulb but the pins are larger.

The T4 LED's that I looked up where all 12 VDC. Your microwave is probably 120 VAC output to the lights.

I hope you are able to locate something. I found some 20 watt microwave lights that I need at Grainger. 2TUD7 is the part number, they are 120 volts, and they also sell a 12 volt version.

Yes, you are correct. This halogen bulb is 120V for sure. That is going to make it more difficult to find something I am sure.
  • A 50 watt LED is well over 4000 lumens. That would be unusable. I have a 10 watt flashlight that when ever I use it for close work, I have to turn it down, because otherwise the reflected light off what I am working on is so bright, it pains my eyes. The lumen rating on LEDs is difficult to compare because the light is much more focused. This means the light directly in front of the LED is brighter, where an incandescent is dispersed so that some of the light is wasted. I would recommend looking for a multi- LED bulb somewhere between 8 to 12 watts. Multiple LEDs tend to disperse the light a little better. I would also recommend paying close attension to the Kelvin. Do not go any higher than 3K, otherwise the light will look blue. 2700 Kelvin is just a hair more white than conventional bulbs.

  • 50W T4 halogens are anywhere from 700- 900 lumens. Look for a replacement LED in that range. A 20W LED SHOULD be well over 900 lumens though.

I'd try a 1156 cree 5W LED This will be very bright, but will be more like a spot light. The cree chip is the future of LED's.
Doubt you will need something like this.
Something like may be what you need... select the 5W cree option.
  • Are you looking for a 20 watt LED - that consumes 20 watts or one that puts out about the same light as a 50 watt halogen light?

I bought a 10 watt LED light panel that goes into a floodlight. I also have a couple of floodlights that have 10 watt LED's in them. They are VERY bright and used outdoors.

Another place to search is Aliexpress.com
