2500W Inverter

I do the crock pot while we are traveling (put it in the sink). Warm and finished when we get there. After that, not so much. Microwave for reheats. I went with a gopower 2000 watt. Working on it now.

20 amps = 2,340 Watts (at 117V). 20 amps came from you wanting a 2000-2500 watt inverter.

All of your items aren't too bad, except the crock pot and microwave. The former adds up over time and the latter draws a lot for a short time. I suspect you'll find the crock pot in particular to be impractical. GoPower (what I have too) are good inverters.

We went a year listening to a generator a few hours a day and being conservative in between. Last year we started using solar and never needed the generator. I can tell you that it's much more preferable.

It was pretty easy with 230w of solar, 345 ah of bank and we didn't run the microwave. I'd like to think that the 8-D along with the 16a the solar puts out could handle it but I'm looking to increase the size of the bank now as well as add a second 220w panel. The only time I want to hear our generator is while I'm inside watching TV with the air running and then I can't really hear it at all.

All is well, went out and figured it out. Got what I think I needed.

I don't know where 20 amps came from, or at least the thought that that would be my use all day long. I can envision 10 amps, say for the microwave being on for a few minutes. It is a newer rig with bigger fridge, TV etc. I do enjoy my baseball and hockey. Not to mention the wife and her "housewives" while I am fishing. Additionally, using a lap top or the crock pot/fridge while I get to where I am going.
Every light I have is LED (did it my self) and brighter that the incandescent ever was. AND, at 1/4 the cost of the LED's found in stores. Learned a lot (and make a few bucks selling a few).
I am not one to listen to a generator.... anyone's. The ability for free power is a benefit.
I went with a Go Power 2000 watt. Some of the reviews were favorable and from what I have learned here. Hope it arrives this next week so I can have a project next weekend.

Seriously? You need 20 amps while boondocking? IMO, you need to decrease your power needs... Otherwise you'll find your batteries don't last long and you have to make noise (generator).

I'd recommend reducing your power needs (drastically), and second the recommendation of getting a true sine wave inverter. They cost more, but you'll have fewer issues with noise in electronics and everything running off of it will run more efficiently.

If you have a big enough converter then there are some serious advantages to using a true sine wave inverter (or two) to power selected electroincs in your RV. True sine wave inverters put out clean, consistant power. if you overload them instead of "Browning out" like the power mains do they simply shut down and get annoying (BEEP BEEP BEEP) spikes, surges, brownouts, and such that bother the blazes out of delicate electronincs, TV's and such. Well getting those past a good quality 3 stage converter, A few hundred amp hours of battery and an Inverter.. Simply not going to happen.. A direct hit from lightening.. That might make it.. (But I've seen such a system stop even one of those).

There are many good True Sine Wave inverters out there.. Alas, I can not recommend any one of them over the rest. Sorry.

Just keep in mind if you go BIG on the INVERTER you better plan on it drawing ALOT of DC power from your battery bank. The 2000-2500 WATT INVERTER will draw between 160AMPS to 200AMPS from your battery bank. You will want to add another 50% draw to this number to be on the safe side. This will then be 240AMPS to 300AMPs of expected battery drain if the Inverter is fully loaded down.

When you check the RESERVE CAPABILITY specs on your battery bank you will find out how many minutes a typical 12VDC battery will produce power under load. They usually list it for a time period of producing 25AMPS. A typical GP27 Trojan 27TMX is listed as having a capacity to produce 12VDC for 175minutes (2.9HOURS) @ 25AMPS before dropping to 0% charge state. You can only use this for 1.4 hours to keep a single 27TMX battery from dropping below the 50% charge state to keep from doing internal damage to the battery. Bottom line is if you are only drawing 12VDC@25AMPS from four 12VDC 27TMX batteries in parallel they will only safely last for 5.6 hours. 25AMPS of power relates to around 300WATTs of drain.. Drawing a full 2500WATTS is going to drain your batteries MUCH MUCH more faster than these times listed... My only real experience test was a full Test Equipment load at a work site on a 1500WATT PSW Inverter direct connected to a standard rental car probably 105AH battery. It lasted only 15 minutes even with the motor running. I killed the alternator as well - rental car company had to bring us out another rental car on a flat bed truck haha... We denied everything...

You have to replenish what you take out of the batteries either using the Generator or the Solar Panels. The generator method is sure way to get it done quickly using smart mode charging techniques - the solar panels is a hit and miss as you can only expect high sun 5-6 hours a day to give max DC current.

Alot to think about here if you want to be successful EVERY TIME...
