30 amp camper/50 amp plug and cord

Just bought a Puma 25BHFQ. One A/C and a 30 amp camper in every way but the plug and cord are 50 amp. Must I always use an adapter or can I plug into 50 amp if available? Thanks. The camper is on a permanent site with a 30 amp plug. I'd like to eliminate the adapter by installing a 50 amp plug.
  • Sounds goofy, so be careful of internet advice. Not that the folks aren't knowledgeable but you may be feeding them confusing information.

Best bet would be to get someone local who is good with electrical to look over your system. It makes no sense that you would have a 240v/50amp inlet feeding a 120v/30amp system...it can be done but makes no sense, so it makes you wonder if someone home brewed the change and if they knew what they were doing when they did it.
  • I would check the RV breaker panel first. If you have a 2 pole main breaker, then you can plug directly into a 50 amp outlet.
But if you have a single pole main breaker, then where is the 2nd hot wire going?
I assume you know a 50 amp outlet is actually 2 50 amp hot wires, a neutral and a ground.
