30 amp male plug to 50 amp female

Just bought a new camper,it has 50 amp service,I have 30 amp service next to my pad where I park it.just used to keep fridge on and battery charged. How do I wire a 30 amp male plug to a 50 amp twist plug? Need six feet of wire to plug in camper , so I don't have to leave a 25 foot 50 amp cord laying on the ground for thieves!

The ? Is how to wire both legs of the 50 amp twist plug.

  • Roll your own 7 foot cord with the appropriate male and female plugs. Since you will be only doing 30 amps #10 wire will work fine. At the female end jumper the two "hot" legs together.

    THIS.
But then test to be sure that you have power to those things that need it.
That is, that both sides of the 50 amp service actually have power.

And don't try to run any high current devices while connected that way:
    Air Conditioner, electric heaters, etc.

CAMCO is a good brand to look for. WALMART stocks the standard long dogbone style adapter but not sure if they have the twist lock type series...

The dogbone type long adapters hold up better for cool connections than the small plug-in adapters do...

Lots of listings on GOOGLE SEARCH... You might find one at a local RV SALES place too...
