  • Have someone that knows what they are doing. Hook it up for you. Be sure it meets code for your city. Because if it doesn't and the insurance company finds out. Guess what insurance canceled and the power company could pull your meter. I have seen it done.
  • I guess I should of clarified it better.
I have 220 going to my hot tub now.I would like to use the breaker box (if I can) to put a 50 amp plug in it.Or will it only 30 amp be acceptable.
Right now I am plugging my 5ver into 50 to 30 to extension cord to a outlet

I am not real clear as to what you are saying, but if you are saying your hot tube is going away and you want to hook you 5th wheel to the 220 dont dont ever hook 220 to an rv. They are wired for 110 volts only. Hope this helps but donot hook 220 volts to 5th wheel.

Not entirely correct. If the OP has a 50 amp RV then it does indeed hook up to 220V and the spa power supply will be fine if it's 4 wire.

Agree hire an electrician. 30 amps would be a 110v and 50 amps would require a 220v circuit.

No no no, 50 amps is 2 120v circuits !;)
  • Why not, I thought a 50 amp service is 240 volts, it you check it across the 2 hot legs.
I know, too many wannabe elect techs !!

  • Hire an electrician. We don't have a clue what will be required in your situation. A lot of hot tubs require 4 wire 50 amp service, so you should have the basics for a 50 amp hookup for your RV, but the devil is in the details...
