Good Evening!My name is Trent, I own a 2015 Keystone Hideout and need technical advice on installing a 50amp outlet.I have read many posts on my issue but cannot seem to figure it out for the life of me!At the area where I park my RV, I have a main panel, and inside the panel, the ground and neutral are connected to the same bar. I will be installing a 50amp RV outlet at the other side of the property, but I cannot figure out my neutral/grounding situation.I have narrowed this issue down to two possible scenarios...1. Only run 3 wires from the main panel (120v/120v/neutral) and install a grounding rod at the outlet for the ground.or2. Run all 4 wires from the main panel (120v/120v/neutral/ground)...but would I connect the ground and neutral to the same bar at the main service panel?Any input in greatly appreciated! Thank You!

Number 2 is the correct method - run 4 wires.

For this situation, I also think number 2 is correct. It would not hurt to consult with an electrician to be positive. You may not need to have the safety ground wire as heavy as the other wires, particularly if they are sized based on voltage drop rather than ampacity.If you were wiring an outbuilding at the other side of the property with its own (sub-) panel, #1 would be correct, if I remember (and understand) things correctly.

#1 is NOT correct. Run four wires and yes, connect them together at the main panel, on the same bar.

I think that the problems come in when 30 amp outlets are wired with 240 volts, not with the 50s. and some of that miswiring is done by electricians.

Inform the electrician to be double damned sure to fit that neutral into a never-used neutral bar buss hole. I have seen too many re-used neutral connetor buss sockets where the mandatory tin plating was comprimised. The goal is trouble-free service now a d 10-years from now.

Correct:

4 wire--

One hot from each side of house box (so 240 VAC between them)TO each of the two OUTER STRAIGHTS on the outlet.

One neutral from the neutral/ground bus on the house box to the CENTER STRAIGHT on the outlet.

One ground from neutral/ground bus on house box to the CENTER ROUND on the outlet.

It's just a common 4 wire 240V range outlet - nothing special about it.

It is alittle different than house wiring. Make sure they know this is for a RV Hookup...

What is different? Looks the same to me.
