Wow, I didn't expect a Section 8 and loud music response or I would have explained a bit more. I've run into more than one loose connection; one of which had already been arcing and posed a fire hazard. I am trained and qualified here and that host thanked me for finding and solving it. In my field, safety and professionalism is paramount. I agree "playing with electrical" is stupid, "damaging" equipment is rude, and "chopping" is crude. This saved an Easter Sunday electrician call-out and he/she would have done the same thing; a simple 3/8" smooth rounded-corner slot. I would have slotted my plug, but this plastic was immediately below it at the cable. I do hope my post doesn't encourage dangerous or irresponsible behavior. If someone finds short (1"-ish) 30 & 50 amp extensions to solve these problems, please post.
