NFPA 1192/RVIA reguire pressure regulated (max of 30 pisg) within 60" of the cylinder connection.

5.3.11.2 Propane system pressure shall be regulated to a pressure of 30 psi (207 kPa) or less within 60 in. (1.5 m) of the container outlet.

Chris is right on, propane will condense back into liquid under the right conditions if the pressure is not reduced on the cross over line.

The purpose of having 2 regulators is safety. You only see this when the Tanks are separated. The Tank that does NOT have the main 2 stage LP regulator by it has a RED regulator. The purpose is to drop the HI Pressure at the tank to a lower pressure that feeds that LP line that goes to the other tank. That way, IF there is a leak or failure in that line going to the other tank, it is a low pressure leak and not a hi pressure leak. The pressure if I remember correctly is 10 psig going to the regular 2 stage regulator. Doug

Double regulators are used when the bottles are on opposite sides of FW vs being in same compartment

The off side cylinder (roadside) has a step down regulator (single stage high pressure either 18psi or 30 psi---red) then a hose to other side where the other cylinder and standard regulator is (drops pressure down to roughly 0.4 psi---11" water column)

IF both cylinders are on same side/same compartment.....just the 2 stage reg is used...just like on the tongue of TT's

Mine actually has two regulators. One time, we got some bad propane and both of them got clogged up and needed replacing. My last FW had the same set up.
