The boost is just there to minimize charging time. If you see 14.4 volts it will be 2 to 4 hours to 90%+ and an additional 4 to 8 hours to 100%. The final charging takes much longer as the process slows. Without boost figure double the time to 90%.
I don't know how others measure their "full charge," but the makers of 6v Wets all seem to say they need over 15v to get them back to "real" full. You need a charger that will do that--not so easy to find (VEC1093DBD is one for sure on the Equalize mode)
My learner set of 6v batts died early (5 yrs) from sulfation after some time at first only being charged by the 13.8v single stage 7355 converter. I have tried several times to get the batts to 100% by taking longer at a lower voltage and it never works (SG does not come up to spec) So there is no reason to expect a WFCO that stays at 13.6v will do the job either.
Time is the big factor of course. A couple of months isn't going to tell the tale, but a year will. No panic to rush out and buy something better, not on sale. Wait for the sale and grab it then. But do get something that will at least go into the 14.x volts.
Then the batts will die so slowly (from never seeing 15+), you will think it is ok :)
