A Genuine Battery Charger

I've had Associated chargers apart and they are built to last. No garbage. Just thought you'd like to know what a real battery charger is...
  • Screw the auction site!
If it's an Associated: ring my chimes!

The Dyson's all have one button: "Fail" they eliminated "Abort" and "Retry". If an Associated rolls over and plays possum it can be fixed. Id a Dyson goes ---- up it's remaining usefulness is to hurl it at a howling dog.
  • Funny I think I might have one just like this from my dads "stuff" I acquired but need to make sure its not a Schumucker! Been through a few of those and if it is, you might see it on an auction site dirt cheap!

And you even get an analog meter to boot!
Analog voltage too. HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW ;)
  • Nice enough for 19th century technology. The price tag is probably based on the cost for all that copper in the massive transformer.

A modern digital switch mode power supply would easily supply 200+ amps all day long, probably wouldn't even need a fan. Of course, the engineering and power mosfets to do the job aren't cheap either. Finding one that's actually engineered, versus a unit built from a poorly copied reference design using 3rd world parts - that's the gamble.
  • Want $750 in Toxic Scrap?I gotta do something this week with a crate of Died Easy, Dack & Blecker, and other assorted Dyson ribbed-fluorescent oriental corpses. Yeah the ones with the magic "push me" buttons".

Smart: Buy intelligent cry bitter tears, tortillas, salt and music for a month

    Or

Not so smart: Five hundred dollars, every one failed when you needed it, a few hundred miles running back and forth for a brighter colored, more buttons improved model.

With the Associated, your grandkids will love it. With the fluorescent Dysons, your three-eyed five legged polluted-landfill grandkids will wonder what went wrong.

Yes, it will certainly do the job.....but at $450.00......yikes.

What's that saying? Buy once, cry once! :)
