About to replace my battery

No, your wire to the converter/12volt DC power center is good. Your future connections would be better if larger sized battery jumpers were installed now saving money.

The additional length will be less than 3 ft additional. What I plan on doing taking the existing wire off the battery and hooking it to a cutoff. Then getting another length of wire (2 - 3 ft, but as short as possible ) and running this from the cutoff to the positive of the new battery. So, if I go with something larger like 0 or 2/0 for this new piece, are you saying that will be too much, and I should replace the entire cable all the way back to my converter/charger?

I do plan on using 2/0 to connect the DC side of my inverter.

Overkill for the batts to breaker and such. 2 gauge between batts is fine. Its only 6 gauge to converter and neg wire. 30 -40 amp breaker so size for that. Why go bigger..

Now when you get inverter, thats a seperate system to batts. I also ran 2 gauge 5 feet. Thats 5 feet x 2. So 10 feet total.

2 gauge your good for 150 amps.

1100 watt inverter / 12 volts = 91 amps I put a 150 amps ANL breaker inline with the inverter.

So you aint getting more then that through the inverter. Save your money and buy 2 gauge...

I’d also think twice about running your break away switch thru a battery cutoff switch. It’s wired directly to battery for a reason. If you tow and forget to flip that battery cutoff switch on with your brakes
Break away switch wired thru it you will have no emergency brake activation ....

I would sat this is mis information. Although there is not a overall pic of batts and all, I am sure that is the main cable going from batts to converter. Every trailer I have owned had one of those or an in line blade style fuse.

My 30 amp resettable failed somewhere in west virginia. I had an extra one on board.

Was found to be the frame pinching the main wire and caused me a lot of issues on that 1 month trip to florida.

Thats probably 6 gauge wire I would assume. Read the writing on the wire and tell us what it says..

The wire looks good. No, information on the sheath/jacket. Some locations if the sheath/jacket may need protection if the insulation is soft. Use finger nail to see if that causes damage to it.

Welder's cable would be easy to work with.

Make sure you find some fine stranded wire like from a marine store. Stay away from building wire!

I am planning on adding an inverter, but nothing larger than 1000 watts. Since I am going to be adding some additional lenght to my cabling, I figure 2/0 will be fine. (probably overkill, but better safe than sorry)
