About to replace my battery

Thats a resettable breaker. Problem is its most likely a 30 amp. So when charging your batts from the converter dont expect to get more then say 40 amps before that trips and resets. Same with high draw items, but usually not an issue.

You must size according to the wire size. I added an 50 amp breaker to mine but increased the wire size. This way I can charge closer to 60 amps when needed.

Since I don't plan on changing out my charger/converter, I should be fine with this reset switch then. I also would like to avoid having to run larger wires if I don't have to.

I like This style. It's easy to surface mount and let's you choose from off/battery 1/ battery 2/ both.

Your existing converter is only going to put out the same amps as it was before. If you are not adding additional loads and just wanting to increase your run time you will be fine as is.

If you want to upgrade your converter and increase your charging efficiency then a converter that goes to more than 13.6 volts and heavier wire will be needed.

Edit. The switch that I link to up above will also let you run your batteries in two Banks.

When you have everything hooked up use a volt meter at the converter terminals at the power center then check the voltage at the battery terminals.

You will see a difference in voltage because of losses in the wire. Resistance is related to wire size and length. When your batteries are low and you do that voltage test you will see the most difference in voltage readings. As the battery charge rises you will see less of a difference in voltage.

This isn't so important if you are going home to plug in or did some dry camping and are then heading to a campground to plug in. If you are running on generator or solar you want as much of the gasoline or sunshine to go back into the batteries asap. Many OEM converters only put out 13.6 volts and it's normal for 13.5 or 13.4 to get to the battery. Upgraded converters will hit 14.6 to 14.8.

If you have a trailer, a battery disconnect should be in the positive cable and the breakaway should be wired directly to the battery prior to the switch.

If a MH, it doesn't matter positive or negative.

Two birds, one stone. Get a Hi-Amp CB185 breaker, which will double as a cutoff switch.

The current charger/converter I have is a Progressive Dynamics 4560 rated at 60 amps. It also shows to be a 4 stage charger with a boost mode that puts out 14.4 volts. So I am guessing I should be fine with that. Correct?
