The connections are good (main cables) and....
The converter/charger is working right and....
The battery is not SOooo dead that it won't take a charge.

A cheap, simple multi-meter is an invaluable tool for stuff like this. Of course, knowing how IT works can be helpful too. :B

As a note Ford does NOT factory install the charge relay into the truck from the factory even when ordering the tow package. It ships loose and is a customer/dealer installed part.

Have a flip through your owners manual to check for it's location and then check that it is installed. If it is not head down to your local dealer with your VIN and ask for it, then install it.

I know, you're probably right. I've always gotten nice help here. This is the first time I've gotten the sarcasm thrown in. I'm just being a bit sensitive...possibly because I know I really should know these answers. It's all good.

The amount of charging you get from your tow vehicle (if it is set up to charge in the first place) is minimal at best due to the long wire run and small wire. Unless you are driving across Texas, you won't get much from charge from it (assuming it is set up and working) anyway. It is more of a battery maintainer. Start your trip with a fully charger and equalized battery for best results.

Thanks for the additional details. My monitor is a little more basic than what you're describing but I can probably test in the same fashion. I'm pretty confident that it's the battery. OP, posting the name of the trailer is irrelevant, the trailer works. Posting the brands, and models of the appliances, thermostats, A/C unit, smoke and LP detectors is what makes for a useful post to diagnose from, since you were worried about function of specific appliances. That's just called plain old common sense, for the amount of time you've been a member.
