A lot of those built into outlets only have a 1A charge rate so they aren't strong enough to charge many smart phones.
Heard this story before. Our Iphone 6 came from Apple with 0.5A charger.
My Apple Iphone chargers are 1.0 amp or 5 watt.:h - LearjetExplorer

The op secifically said he wanted "The kind that is used in RV's" that is a quick box
By the way.. If I gave you my opinion of those Quick Box outlets Damon put all over my RV you'd be needing a new monitor cause the one you have now.. would melt.. Just like one of my Quick Box outlets did. - SCVJeffExplorer

Well I got mine.. I didnt read your 3rd party test post till a few mins ago, so it sounds like getting the one without the cord was a better thing. Seems to work well, but either this one or the one I posted arent linear as I can change the load and the -.02 display difference between them changes, but that might be cable losses in my original. I also bought a switchable 1 & 2amp test load for $1.37 DELIVERED TO THE DOOR from China. I'll be checking the accuracy on the resistors just to make sure.
scvJeff, that one does not count mAH consumed, like this one:

Professional Review of above USB meter:

This meter has proven helpful in my understanding of why some outlets charge various USB devices faster than others, and that the quality of the USB cord, and its length can make a huge difference.
This linked meter can test voltage at the end of a micro USB cable, and the voltage drop can be significant.
I'm warming up to the memory functions but it would sure be nice to have a sheet of the various button combinations. I just saw this morning that I can switch it to watts, as well as see a powered on timer. Not bad for $6, and I'm certinaly not whining about +-.01v difference between two $5 meters - NinerBikesExplorer

And youre buying radios too!
2 meter and 70 cm for now, it's a start, need more testing and a Generals before I start goofing off with some DX'ing. The HOA keeps me in check with antennas not growing all over the place. - SCVJeffExplorerAnd youre buying radios too!

Gee thanks.... There's another $10 I need to spend.. You're correct about chargers and cords. I'm finding out why some things charge, others done, and the differences in wall worts. It's amazing the charge differences in various devices

LOL Jeff, I'm in the same boat as you. Another $10, where will it end? Maybe back to tent camping days and simplicity? Not gonna happen here. - http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-power-cords/wall-usb-outlet.htm
It is just 3.2 amp or max 2.1 per port.
