My way of thinking you need to place the INVERTER as close to the battery terminals as possible and use a min 4AWG pair of short cables with 2AWG actually better. I found a source for great very flexible marine quality AMCOR BRAND DC CABLING. You can almost tie this cable in a knot haha... I have never had any heating issue whatsoever running my 1500WATT and my 600WATT PSW Inverters. They are both right at five feet away from the battery terminals and fused with proper BLUE SEA HD fuse assemblies.
This is the way I would do it... The game plan for me is ZERO VOLTS DC DROP... I see readings on my battery bank which is tapped at the terminals of the main four position BLUE SEA ROTARY switch. These DC VOLTAGE readings only drop a couple of points .2 or so DC VOLTS drop when drawing 50-55 AMPS DC CURRENT when I am using my work horse 600WATT PSW POWER INVERTER.
I have never really measured the DC VOLTAGE DROP using the 1500WATT PSW POWER INVERTER as it is a purely a backup POWER INVERTER and very seldom used in my setup...
The DC SIDE of the INVERTER is where you will see your losses.
After you do this then you can run EXTENSION cords or HOUSE wiring to where you want to use the resulting 120VAC power...
Of course this is my way of doing things and have had excellent results with my POWER INVERTERS over the years since being used since 2009 in my OFF-ROAD CAMPING in my POPUP TRAILER...
ADDED NOTE: My setup uses the beefed up battery bank to run all of the 120VAC items we want to run from an POWER INVERTER and 12VDC items direct connected to the battery bank. This does not include high wattage items like the air conditioner and microwave unit. This also does not include my coffee maker. It just draws too many watts. My game is to make it through the one day/night run off the battery bank and then re-charge my battery bank back up to its 90% charge state the next morning by hooking up my trailer to a 2KW Honda Generator. This then uses my smart mode converter/charger to re-charge my batteries in a three hour battery run. This is the time i make up my grind and brew bean coffee for the day and pour it up into a thermos karafe. My grind and brew coffee maker only needs 5 minutes of run time being plugged into 120VAC when the generator is running.
