Good question - I too would like to know the answer
I moved my K step power connection from the engine battery to the house battery bank several months ago. Had a few issues with other equipment after that connected to both the house system and the engine battery. Not sure why Itasca / Winny connectes the steps to the starting battery as compared to the house battery bank.
