Electric steps should ALWAYS be wired to the chassis battery. That said, some OEM's wire them to the coach battery (wrong). The reason to wire to chassis is this, there HAS to be power to retract the steps before moving the RV. IF the RV starts and runs, that means there is power to the chassis battery and Ignition side of the motorhome. That means your steps will have power to retract. National RV used to power the steps from the Coach Batteries and numerous Rv'ers had to replace their steps when the coach batteries were dead or the battery disconnect was off and they took off with the steps extended. Correctly wired Kwikee steps will NOT drain a battery. Doug
