Yes, Mercedes V8 engines are SOHC, single overhead camshaft on each cylinder bank that operates both the intake and exhaust valves. The Mercedes M110 straight 6 is DOHC, dual overhead camshafts one operating the intake valves, the other operates the exhaust valves. As stated earlier SOHC and DOHC refer to the number of camshafts per cylinder head not the total number of camshafts in the engine. Most all "import" vehicle engines are SOHC or DOHC design, including the Honda V6 in question.
