I totally agree with smkettner on the wires.

Reviews are mixed on the HF mini compressor. Seems like the unhappy one just fired it up. The happy one lubed it before starting. It's a tiny pump, so I can understand needing to take care of it. I have two HF compressors that are 15 and 10 years old. I run them hard and they keep working. One did need a new check valve, but I found a replacement on eBay for $15. Lots of folks poo-poo ANYTHING from HF, but I have bought some of my favorite tools from them and I have Mac, Snap-On and old school Craftsman gear in the mix.

You need to know how to recognize good tools and HF can be a gold mine.

edit - I just looked at the MV-50. 2.54 CFM and it's $56. That is the best looking value right there.

If you get a 12v... make sure it has battery clamps only. Cigar plug is weak.
I have and recommend MV-50 as seen on amazon.

I have a HF 12v compressor and a plug kit that I carry in the MH and the trunk of the tow car just for emergencies. I have used them twice in 10 years and 80,000 miles. It pumped enough air in my tires that I could safely drive to a gas station to top off the tire. I would not use it to fill a MH tire to 90 psi.

Key word: "looks". It probably will work, for a while.

I used to carry a compressor but no longer and there have been times I needed it. I do not necessarily like to borrow stuff at the campground even though my neighbors have been friends for nearly 10+ years. I might start carrying the compressor again. That reminds me I need to pull the wheel covers and check the air to get ready to head back north soon.

In the past I always carried a battery charger too. Needed on yesterday so decided to order one on Amazon. Will keep this one in the motorhome.

I have been toying with the idea of a 5 gallon bulk tank under the coach and a small 150 psi 12V compressor. The idea is that I can fill the tank from my home compressor before a trip. Then use the 12V (if I use up the tank) on the go.

HF sells a 150 psi, 1.5 CFM unit that looks just like the Viair units. I am really tempted to pick one up for $60 and give it a try.

Everyone has an opinion so I'm not going to be shy about giving mine. I have traveled with a 12v tire kit for many years and it has pulled my fat from the fire a number of times. Personally, I use the Slime kit with a jug of tire repair goo and a 12v compressor. I augment the kit with a plug kit purchased separately.
As far as time, the 12v compressor will get you to 80psi but it will take a while; usually a lot less time than waiting for AAA to show up and besides, I'm in no hurry, I've got a flat . . .

Gas station air. You have to drive there. Than tires are hot. Most gas station no way will you get a MH close enough to use there sir.

My AIr Comp. I have on board. Fill my 80 psi tires. Faster than the bigger tank version in my garage. Was just thinking out loud on this. Thought I could gain a little storage space and loose some weight. Guess I will keep it. Never know when someone else might need air.

How I love the air compressor topics. Everyone has their opinion and you probably won't see two alike responses in a hundred.
rvten, I carry a Sears Craftsman AirBoss 115 volt, 135psi compressor. If needed on the road away from shore power, I simply start the genny and plug in and go. It's small and compact, very quiet, and will air my class c tires up just like a big compressor. For an rv needing 70, 80 or so psi, the 12 volt models aren't worth the space they take up. Great for a 32 psi car, but for 80 psi rv tire, nope. Thrie a bit pricey, now running about $160, but they go on sale all the time for $99 to $115.
If you have a genny, 115 volt is the only way to go. If your on some back road area, and need air, I don't think a gas station will have a long enopugh hose.
