- IvylogExplorer IIIThe front may be a 15K while the rear is a 13.5K. Until you test to see how much each unit decreases the input air temp you are just guessing if there is a problem.

, we were running both at the same time, just seemed like the rear wasn't as cool.
On Newmar products, the Rear bedroom Zone 2 WILL get colder as it turns over a smaller volume of air even tho they have a common intake and exhaust ductwork. So, you need the rear AC checked out. You HAVE checked and cleaned the AC filters? Do you have the 4 button or 5 button Zone control? The 5 button has a separate ZONE button to change zones. 2001 was the year they went from 4 to 5 button. Also, you should have 18 total round ducts. 9 intake and 9 exhaust. Newmar failed to install enough round ducts your year model(2000/01/02) and that caused inadequate cooling(prone to freeze ups). Newmar had Service centers add extra ducts to get to the 18 total. - msmith1199Explorer III was going to give the same answer as above. You have to run both Zone 1 and Zone 2 to get max cooling. At night I often run zone 1 (the front unit) and close all the front vents. This sends all the air to the rear. The reason for this is noise reduction. The zone 2 unit is right over the bed and at night it's much quieter to only have the front unit running.
- JnJnKatiebugExplorerDon't know if yours is the same but zone 1 on mine is the front a/c and zone 2 is the back a/c. They are ducted together so if only running zone 1 80% of the air goes to the front and the rest to the rear. Same if running zone 2, 80% goes to the rear. To cool the entire coach evenly I have to run both.
